I need some help understanding the information on the Manufacturing Material Variance Detail window. Specifically Total Estimated Costs, Total Costs Put Into WIP, Total Costs Consumed, and Cost Variance.
We do not track or have entered any labor or machine time costs, all dollars are pure material.
Estimated costs seem to come from the item standard cost through the MO BOM but it appears the Costs Put Into WIP come from the item's Current Cost. Is this correct?
If so, then since Current Cost seems to actually be "last transaction cost" rather than "last purchasing receipt" variances could be created that are incorrect. Yes?
Also how can I get a better understanding of the data sources for these fields and the process of how they interact?
