Getting System.InsufficientMemoryException intermittently, mostly in async plug-ins

In one of the CRM Online orgs I'm working with, the following exception has appeared a few times today:

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1
[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=8.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]:
System.InsufficientMemoryException:

I searched the forum and it doesn't appear that anyone else has run into this lately. But I thought I'd check just in case.

The plug-in where it failed most recently is registered post-operation async. All it's doing is setting the Worked By of a queue item to the new owner of an opportunity. So the plug-in isn't consuming an abnormal amount of memory, or at least it shouldn't be.

Anyway, if you run into this and know the cause please let me know. I'm guessing that I'll need to open a support case on this.  :(

    I've encountered a very similar issue, an Auto-Numbering Managed Solution (which was worked without error for 3+ years) has started to throw the error in one of our Sandbox Environments:

    <Message>An error occurred in Auto number validation plug-in. System.InsufficientMemoryException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. Reference number for administrators or support: #5463DA46<

    From the MS Developer Network "The exception that is thrown when a check for sufficient available memory fails.". As with Tim's error this plugin is tiny, only generating the next Opportunity number in sequence and should not be causing issues with available memory.

    If anyone identifies the cause (or a fix) let us know!

    Hi Tim,

    have you found a solution for this? Or has Microsoft given you an answer?

    I've seen this InsufficientMemoryException twice in the last hour in my CRM Online organization when I call the new web api, but it's unclear what is causing this error.

    I'm curious what your findings are...

    I had a similar error today while trying to sync a marketing list between PowerMailChimp and MailChimp and haven't been able to find any answers online today either. I'll follow this post to see if there is a response from Microsoft.

    Thanks,

    Kari
