Why does SO gets archived without shipped Qty?

Hello experts, 
 
We have found out that some of our archived Sales Orders gets archived when the Shipped Qty. is not filled out, how is that possible? I thought both Shipped and Invoiced Qty. had be to filled out for the SO to be completed and then archived.

    It depends on the setup on Sales & Receivables Setup if you enable it to archive it then it will archive everytime you release the order, post the order. It doesn't check the quantity ship or invoice fields. Release and Post triggers auto archive.

    Thank you for the clarification, yes we have do have the exact same setup on Sales & Receivables.
     
    Correct me if i'm wrong - will it also be archiving other versions of SO's? Lets say i reopened that specific SO and made some new changes and released it again, will it then archive that version too?

    Yes, every time you release a sales order, it will be archived. You can test it and see that the version number on the order keeps incrementing.

    But how come when it is posted (ship and invoiced) and then archived automatically from that process perspective - it still shows as 0 in Shipped and Invoiced Qty. ?
