Could not update the data in Sales Order After Posted

Hi Team,

We are facing the below error, 

"We could not update the data right now. Please try again later. Technical details : A record in table G/L Entry was locked for use in another session. Administrators can see current locks on the Database locks page or use telemetry."

Once this error thrown, it has been created a  Posted Sales Shipment and Posted Sales Invoice Document, But it has not updated the Sales Line (Quantity Shipped) value for partial shipment and invoice. If we did fully shipment and invoice also, quantity shipped value was not updated and sales order document has not been deleted.

Note : The entries in the posted document are updated correctly.

    Hi

    Just checking to see if at the time of error you had a chance to check database lock to see who is locking the database? We had something similar (in other area) and we find one of customization cause database lock. in another case some finance report was causing this error (we switched them to Read-Only). 

    Also, do you use any G/L account in your SO (something like shipping charge)?

    We've seen this kind of behavior when there is a badly written code that runs between clicking the post button and the post routine ending.  

    The "it has not updated the Sales Line (Quantity Shipped)" makes me think this is custom code.  You should be able to look at the "Help/About this page" or whatever it's called in the help screen and it will list the extensions running on this page.  Are there any custom extensions?

    Hi @Robert,

    Thank you for your response. We are not able to see the failure message in Telemetry to know more about which extension was causing this error. Is there any other way to troubleshoot this further.

    Seems like Robert provided some feedback. I hope that help. is it possible that someone is entering transaction for the G/L account that is in SO at the same time and that is why that account is locked?

    Do you see this issue in all shipments or on a few of them? Is it in certain time of the day or all day long?
