Which mailbox will send a saved (but not yet sent) email?

Hi all

I'm trying to validate a mailbox before sending an email from it, using a html/javascript web resource combination (i.e. a HTML form with JS behind it to send the email).

Saving and sending an email is easy enough, but I can't seem to figure out how to determine which Mailbox will send an email before the email is sent? The sendermailboxid is only populated after the send, it seems. And multiple Mailboxes can have the same emailaddress.

So far, I'm leaning towards searching the SystemUser records for the email address and then retrieving the linked Mailbox, but this seems iffy, especially considering it could be a queue sending the email?

Am I missing something obvious?
