Packing Slip Line Item Comments

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

How can the full line item comment be displayed on the packing slip instead of the 4 80 character lines it currently has?

Thanks for the responses, but I have been successful just displaying the full comment text line in the PO and SO and there are instructions for eliminating the footers that hold the 4 line of the comment array. Then when you use that version of the xml for the template it does expand and contract as needed in the template. Give it a try. Just couldn't figure out how to eliminate the calculated suppress fields they were tied to more stuff.

    Hi Nancy,

As per David's article, when you attempt to use the "Comment Text" field this won't automatically expand if the report is a graphical report.  It will auto expand if the report is a Text report.

And as Soma points out...there is a limitation of 80 characters for fields in RW.

    Thanks,
    Justin

I think, we can not print the single line with more than 80 - 100 character in GP report writer. Only we can split it to multiple lines( ex: 4 * 80).

    Hope this helps!!!

Thanks I was really hoping to just display the whole line vs mulitple or add even more lines, the way there are insturcions to do it for Purchase order by removing the footers and the supress calculated columns and just replacing with comment text, it doesn't seem to work analogously well in the packing slip.

I recommend you follow David Musgrave's instructions: blogs.msdn.com/.../adding-more-comments-to-sop-documents.aspx
