I understand in Dynamics as long as the period is open, it is a valid period to post in.
If a user enters a current period, for example, I'm wanting to post a journal for April 2023, on one half of the journal I use the correct date in April 2023, but on the other I use a date in May, it automatically defaults the entire journal to the incorrect date in May 2023.
Is there specific configuration to implement a specific rule set if the dates differ in order to treat this issue?

Check your journal name configuration. If it's set to "One voucher number only" the date will default to a single date because a single voucher number can have only one date assigned to it.
If it's set to "In connection with balance", a new voucher is created by the system every time it detects the voucher is in balance, allowing you to have different dates on voucher lines in the same journal.
