CRM Online : Contact full name javascript change

Hi,

On the contact form, I need to fill a custom field wan some other fields change.

One of these fields is the full name. However, when I call my function in the change event of this fields, it does not get triggered.

Currently I used the change event of first and last name as workaround.

But I was wondering if this is standard behaviour. Because when using first and last name change, the informatie in the full name is not updated yet with the change done in first/last name.

    This is correct behavior.

    This articles states why:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../dn481581.aspx

    Quote:

Although you can read the value of the composite value using getValue, you can’t use setValue to change the value of the composite attribute directly; you must set one or more of the attributes referenced by the composite attribute.

I'm not trying to set a value.

I assumed that a change in first or last name on the form that impacts the full name, would trigger the change event of the last name.

The change event would launch a script to add the full name to another field on the screen. So all, I want is get the value of he full name when it changes.

But I guess due to the tablet behaviour, this is not an option as it will not have the composite field iteself.

On first and last name you can add onchange event and if either of the two will change you can set another field and concatinate the two field values to build your new fullname.
