Post Assemblies Programmatic Functionality

Is anyone aware of a tool that can perform an Inventory Assembly Entry transaction and post it. We have a customer that would like us to do an eConnect app to automate importing a sales order and peforming the assembly process to relieve inventory for everything "made" for that sales order. However, it is my understanding that we can do the sales order entry import to create the invoice with eConnect, but that we can't do the assembly entry portion. Has anyone done that?

    RE: Post Assemblies Programmatic Functionality

After discussing this further with my colleague, I have learned that the solution was developed as a Dynamics GP Add-In.

The add-in performs these steps within the GP client by automating the entry of assembly transactions and posting them through GP windows.

    - Read SOP orders to get the details of what required assembling

    - Created the assembly transaction and placed it in a batch

    - Posted the assembly batch

The Dynamics GP client must be running and logged in, and the code must be triggered from within GP.

The solution was not designed to import or post the assembly transactions from an application outside of GP.  While that is probably possible, it would require a very different implementation.

    RE: Post Assemblies Programmatic Functionality

    Hi,

A colleague and I developed such a solution for a customer.

    The custom .NET solution:

    - Read SOP orders to get the details of what required assembling

    - Created the assembly transaction and placed it in a batch

    - Posted the assembly batch

There were numerous customer specific elements in the solution, and it was moderately complex, but it sounds like the fundamentals are similar to the requirements you have described.

While the entire solution is very specific and probably would not work for your customer, the developer is open to selling the C# source code for the solution so that you can utilize the relevant pieces.

eConnect does not provide any schema for Assembly Entry. Is the user interface is applicable in your case? Or you going to schedule import process.

If user interface is there then you can create Macro for Aseembly Entry to create transaction and post it  and then create your Sales Transaction Entry through eConnect.

    Thanks.
