Runtime Error: Class not Registered in RMS Administrator

I have updated the SQL Server Express 2005 to 2014. Both the POS and MANAGER both work fine on Server and Client. But now I can not open the Store Administrator on the Server.

The response is 'Runtime Error: Class Not Registered -2147221164 (80040154). Tried uninstalling RMS and reinstalling but get the same problem. The client computer Configuration Test Database is OK,  but Connect  to Database responds "Failed to connect to database RMSDATA"

    The solution to this issue was provided by New West Technologies. The upgrade to SQL Server 2008 Express and SQL Server 2014 Express requires 2005 backward compatibility. They provided  2 links which downloaded either the x86 or the x64 version of 2005BC

    Let me update the full scenario. Originally installed RMS 2.0 and everything was fine. Recently upgraded SQL Server 2005 Express to 2014 Express. All was still fine until Office 365 was uninstalled. The 'Class not registered' error began.

    I tried to uninstall and re-install RMS but SQL Server 2005 Express is blocked by the the instance MSSQLSERVER already exists.

    Now neither this computer gets the 'Class not Registered' error, and the other computer gets the error 'failed to connect to server servername'

    Please advise if  a complete remove of SQL Server Express 2008, 2014 and the MSSQLSERVER instance is required.

    If you need assistance with this issue I would suggest you open an incident with Microsoft.

    I can not connect to the database on either computer through the RMS Store Administrator.

    The server computer gives the 'Class Not Registered' error and Store Administrator drops.

    The Client computer will open the Administrator and I can TEST DATABASE only. It "Fails to connect to Database'

    Are you able to Connect to SQL, within Store Operations Administrator, on other computers connected to the same database?

    This is less than 30 days from now; and you can continue using RMS after this date, but technical support will not be available.

    I would recommend checking with your partner regarding what they may recommend as a replacement system after the extended support end date.

    Hi!  We had that happen and the tech "Ran a registerdllSO.bat" to fix the issue. I don't have any more details so proceed with caution if you try it. Be sure to make a backup of everything before trying this and/or contact a RMS support tech for assistance.
