Change All Employee IDs

We're on GP2010 and would like to convert all of our employee IDs.  Employees are currently assigned their SSNs as their IDs and the SSNs are showing up on their paycheck stubs, reports, etc.  We would like to change to a numeric ID system and have GP auto assign IDs for new employees.

I've read that there is a tool out there called Employee Modifier in the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL).  Is this what we need to get the job done?

If anybody has any other tools, scripts, instructions, or general hints it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Yes.  PSTL will do the trick.  Your GP partner should be able to get it for you.

    Good luck,

I was able to acquire a copy of PSTL from our GP partner and will be testing it today.

We are also using Business Portal 5.1 for our timecards that ties in with GP.  Would you know if BP would get affected by changing the employee IDs and if there's anything on the BP side that we need to update?

I just wanted to give an update that we've successfully converted all of our employee IDs using the Employee Modifier in PSTL.  The process ran for several hours overnight to convert over 900 employee IDs.

For anyone else performing this in the future, we found three tables that needed to be manually converted, Hrm_Timecard, Hrm_TimecardAssignements, and Dynamics.dbo.MbfRoleUser (Constituent column).  All three were related to timecards so perhaps they were added by our Business Portal application that we use for timecards.  These tables may or may not be present in your installation.  Good luck!

I have a client that wants to Convert employee ID,s with PSTL.  However, PSTL won'T list all the employees.  e.g. PSTL sees employee ID up to 091897, but going in Canadian Payroll, employee cards, employee id's go well beyond 091897.  (like 092027)  there is a whole bunch missing.
