NEW - Seeking Practical Experience in D365 Consultant Role

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by 5

Good Day to all,

I am currently trying to gain experience as a D365 F&O Functional Consultant. However, it is proving extremely difficult to get a job because I do not have 'Full Life Cycle Implementation' experience. I cannot get the experience because I don't have the relevant job to get the experience. Chicken and Egg situation.

My background is in Accounting and Finance, with over ten years of experience and a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA). I also took  and passed the MS Dynamics D365 Finance and Core Exams.

I have used Dynamics AX R2 for about three years (2013 to 2016). I am trying to change career from Accounting to ERP Consulting.

I am sincerely seeking guidance from everyone in this forum to help me enter the D365 Finance Functional Consultant Field. Please share with me your experiences on how you were able to enter this market.

Any input and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Best regards

    Hi Bundu,

Next to experience, also the location might play a role. Do you know how many Dynamics 365 related jobs are available in your country or neighborhood?

I do agree a lot of companies are searching for experienced users, but sometimes also new joiners. Some companies do have academy-program opportunities. Then you would be able to join, get a training and get guidance to become a professional. Such program might be an easier entrance for you. On LinkedIn, you can update your profile with your preferences, and you can search for available jobs.

I wish you all the luck finding the job you are dreaming of. If you have specific questions, feel free to send a personal message.

    Hi Andre,

Thank you for your response and sorry for the delayed response.

I currently lived in Indiana, USA, close to Chicago area. However, I am planning to migrate to Florida. I have been searching on LinkedIn based on the criteria you suggested above but I have not yielded any luck as yet. I will continue to search.

I will reach out to you as you offered if I have any specific questions.

    Thanks.

    Hi Bundu,

I see your problem and totally understand this, this is a very common and painful issue. You have very good experience as a CA and which is widely a very key requirement for a finance consultant which is a core module of AX. To start your career in this field you can see opportunity with the end user who is in the implementation phase or are in support, that should be a practical entry point for you as the end user may not need an IT person but an industry-experienced person to support/manage their D365FO project journey.
