is GP 8.0 will supports sqlserver 2008 r2, we are going to upgrade the database from sqlserver 2000 to 2008 r2.
or which one will support.
or we have to upgrade the GP and sqlserver ???
please reply need this urgent.

so as per your statement can not use sqlserver 2008 for GP 8.0 right? ok.
ok we will go with sqlserver 2005 for GP 8.0, because if our existed GP has lot of customization and tightly coupled, so they are not moving forward for both.
and if we use sqlserver 2005, mainly on which i have to concentrate.
any precautions i need take care of , can you please share the info .

SQL Server 2008R2 is only supported from GP Version 10 on Service Pack 5 or greater. You are currently running in lower version, it is better to upgrade both GP and SQL Server.
In order to use SQL 2005 you should be on GP 8 Serice Pack 5.
