Hi all
Please help what my client trial balance has the debit balances on the credit side and the credit balance on the debit side, what caused this and how to reverse the setup?
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Please see the screenshot
Hi
I was using a normal trial balance that displays the net change balances, but I see detailed trial balance does show them in debit and credit accordingly. Thanks so much this was helpful.
Hi
Yes it was the net change balances thank you.
Which trial balance report are you using? There are multiple in the system.
Also, can you show a screenshot that includes the column names? From what I can tell in your screenshot it looks right to me.
Typically the columns would be Beginning Balance, Debits, Credits, Ending Balance. If the report you are using does have the columns in that order then the data in your screenshot is correct as the fixed asset cost accounts have a debit balance and the accumulated depreciation accounts have a credit balance.
Something else you can do:
1. As per Inge's post in the General Ledger Setup Page change the Show Amounts field to All Amounts.
2. Add these two Debit Amount and Credit Amount fields to the Chart of Accounts Page.
3. Add the same date filter as in your trial balance report
4. Compare the Debit & Credit Amounts in the Chart of Accounts and in your Trial Balance, they should be the same
Are you sure that you are comparing two prints of the trail balance report.
I checked the code and there is no setting that you can adjust to make the trail balance layout to change.
Could it be that you compare the report to an excel export done from the chart of accounts? The char of account normally only show the net change.
Hi Inge
this does not make any changes to amounts on the report. any more suggestions?
Go to general ledger setup and look at the show amount setting:
