Dynamics 365 Sales - How to use the post activity (timeline)

I can't find any resources/guides that explain the use of the post-activity in the timeline. My client had briefly heard of it and is interested in applying it - maybe specifically for the @ and # functions. I have not touched upon this activity type before, and haven't had any luck in my research this far, so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide me with any links or explanations of how it works in practice (and can provide value to the users).
