Model store deployment when using Product models

In an AX2012R2 environment we are using model store when deploying customization's. So far no problem, but we are also using Product models i.e. we are building and compiling product models in the production environment (the code is generated in usr layer).

As I know you should avoid creating classes directly in the production environment because of possible object ID conflicts. But since this is a Ax functionality I would like to know if there is a recommended way make sure that the system is running without any issues after a model store deploy? Should we export our product models as XPO's and import and compile after deploying the model store? Any suggestions?
