Document handling in AX 2012 - "show files" option does not work with excel files with "#" symbol in the name.

Hi All,

I have attached a few excel files on released products. When I use the "Open" button, the excel file opens without a problem but when I use "Show file", It gives me an option to save, open or cancel. when I select "Open" from the prompt, the system hangs up. This happens only for excel files with # symbol in the name of the file. This is the standard document handling(attachments) form and no customizations. Are there any workarounds for this situation?

Hi Vaishnavi,

I had not seen this behavior before, but also don't think I have ever used this with a file name containing the # symbol. Are you able to prevent using files with the hashtag symbol in the file name?

Yes, Without a # symbol, everything works fine. I just wanted to know if I was missing something. Thanks Andre.
