ARE CUSTOMER DONATIONS COUNTED AS CUSTOMERS?

Looking for some clarification.  If I'm wrong tell me - Here was the question posed to me:

"if a donation is tendered separate from a sale does the donation transaction effect customer count? Another words are donations counted as customers?"

My answer:

"If it prints a receipt, if it assigns a transaction number then Yes."

Background:

My agency permits individual customer monetary donations, which are received at same cash registers used to tender sales.  Using the "donation" key does ring up the donation as a sale, does print receipt, does assign transaction number.

    Yes you are correct,  Any time a sale is rung up, it is counted as a transaction, which in turns affects the number on the Z-report for customer count.
