negative item adjustment issue at a directed location

Hi Community,

I noticed the negative item adjustment is not working correctly in my standard BC. The positive adjustment is working fine.

When I populate the warehouse item journal for a negative item adjustment: entry type: negative adj, item no., location, zone, bin no,
BC shows an error message which asks for the adjustment bin no. This is not normal cause I'm trying to adjust item off a regular bin.

If I proceed to fill in the adjustment bin, register, and go to item journal to run the Calculate warehouse adjustment, nothing shows up. After checking the warehouse entry, I noticed BC create 2 warehouse entries for the adjustment bin, offsetting each other.

In anther testing in Nav 2018, the negative adjustment via warehouse item journal for a directed location works correctly.
I'm able to post a negative adjustment entry for the correct bin, then I'm able to run the Calculate warehouse adjustment to true up the bin content.

I'll be interested to find out if anyone experiences the same issue.

Thanks

Solution for Negative Item Adjustment Issue at Directed Location:

Root Cause: BC warehouse logic requires adjustment bin for negative adjustments to maintain warehouse integrity.

    Solutions:

    1. Proper Negative Adjustment Process:

    • Fill Bin Code (source bin to reduce from)

    • Fill Adjustment Bin Code (required for negative adj)

    • Use location's default adjustment bin

    • Register → Calculate Whse. Adjustment

    •

    2. Setup Adjustment Bin:

    • Location Card → Bins → Set Adjustment Bin Code

    • Or create dedicated adjustment bin

    • This bin handles the warehouse movement logic

    •

    3. Alternative - Use Movement:

    • Create Warehouse Movement from source bin to adjustment bin

    • Then post negative adjustment from adjustment bin

    • More steps but cleaner warehouse tracking

    •

    4. Check Location Setup:

    • Location Card → Verify Directed Put-away and Pick settings

    • Ensure Adjustment Bin Code is defined

    • Check Bin Mandatory settings

    •

This is BC design change from NAV - negative adjustments now require adjustment bin for audit trail.

Recommendation: Set up adjustment bin in location and use it for all negative adjustments.
