    Debi,

    Cool solution!

Would you mind if we published that as a tip in our newsletter?  We will give you credit if you wish?

If you want to be credited with the solution, email me your name and company name at rwhaley@accoladepublications.com.

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately this client is not open to purchasing anything at this point.  I did however find a workaround and while it required some time it works. For others who are interested, following are the steps:

    1. Insert the picture in a word document

    2. Use the Custom watermark option in format to create the watermark image

    3. Copy the image and paste in Paint

    4. Save the image as a .jpg file

    5. Insert the .jpg into the Report Writer document

    Good Luck!

    Watermark in Report Writer

There is a product called FinePrint http://www.fineprint.com that allows you to create templates for watermarks, letterhead, forms, etc. then overlay your print job and route it to a printer of your choice. I've seen GP implementations where it is used for watermarks, and for multicompany envirnoments where they need to select from multiple logos when printing invoices, PO's, and other forms. I've also seen folks create seasonally themed overlays that they can cycle throughout the year.

The product installs as a print driver on the workstation. Within GP, you select FinePrint as the print driver. When you send your print job, a dialog box pops up with a print preview and a choice of overlays that you've configured (you can create the overlays in Word or any other document publishing program). You select the overlay, then choose the physical printer to which you want to send it. Cost is about $50/workstation if you buy licenses one at a time.

This also overcomes the size and scaling limitations of the GP report writer for handling image files. I'm not a rep of FinePrint, but as a contract GP consultant I face the watermark and multiple logo issue all the time.
