Hello everyone,

it seems that we have a problem with our CRM VSS Writer.

In the services i can see, that the "MS Dynamics CRM VSS Writer" Service is stopped.

When i want to start that service, it loads at first, but then brakes up with the error code 1053.

I already restartet the server.

please help.

kind regards,

b.maassen

Hello Mr Maassen, Have you made any changes to your AD security , And does your VSS Service have a dedicated service account or is it being shared with other services?

Please can you also check your Windows error Logs so we can get more details

I made some changes in the Active Directory but we restored that configuration. And inside the services.msc it now says that the VSS Writer Service is "marked for deletion" ...

OK it seems like your Service account is corrupted, Thanks for confirming that changes were made to the AD and were reversed, do you also know if the VSS service is using the same AD user service account as other crm services?

You may have to review the service accounts AD / Server / Sql permissions etc

The following Microsoft reference will guide you with which permissions should be included in your crm deployment for your service accounts; technet.microsoft.com/.../hh699825.aspx

I am using the same account for VSS, SQL and CRM. i have no error connecting to the website. The IIS, ADDS and SQL is all on the same server in our testing area... only the exchange is on another server. but i also have a problem connecting to my outlook for crm (opened another question for that problem).

By the way i am using CRM On-Premise

Hi, so you are now able to access CRM web form or you are still getting the same error?

Did you get a chance to review your service accounts security privileges with the reference I sent you.  I would also advise you to check you SPN's for the service account

Yes, i am able to access to the web form without an error. i set the spn with the powershell command:

    setspn -a "url" "domain/account"

i checked all security privileges. however when i look at the services, the service for that VSS Writer isnt even there anymore (since i repaired the crm with the installation exe yesterday) - i dont even know if this is good or bad ...

Hi  Can you make sure in SQL Server The SQL Server VSS Writer service is Started?

The VSS Writer Service provides added functionality for backing up and restoring Microsoft Dynamics CRM databases through the VSS framework to centrally manage the backup and restore operations on a variety of applications.

I hope This solves your issues, Kindly Verify :)

    Best Wishes, Raz
