Compatibility between Office 2016 and CRM Outlook plugin ??

Hi,

We recently migrated to Office2016 as part of our O365 subscription... problem is we cannot install th Outlook CRM plugin anymore (we are on CRM2013).

We get an error message stating that "Outlook is not installed on this machine".

Anyone could confirm if CRM2013 + Oulook2016 can work together ? If so, what is the workaround to make it work ?

From my perspective, it look likes a very bad programming of the plugin, that would look for Office Install dir in a fixed place (like c:\programs\Office15) whereas newest version is in another directory....

Thanks,

Sorry, found another post suggesting that this is not actually supported:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn832152.aspx

Then one other questions, are there any plans to make CRM2013 + Outlook2016 work, or is it definitively mandatory to migrate to CRM2015 ?

I had read that there isn't compatibility until the next CRM 2013 Rollup package is released, and I can't find any info on when it is planned for release.

It's time for this update to be made.  There is no excuse for not having it at the time the Outlook 2016 RTM was made.  It was in beta many months prior to that and could have been used for this development.  We develop products for Office and we were ready when the release was made.  If we can do it, MS can do it if they wanted.

Actually, they are compatible and they do work together.

My laptop had Office 2007, Win 7 and CRM 2013, upgraded to Outlook 2016 then upgraded to Win 10.(Screenshots below). Everything works perfectly!

My desktop is a new Win 10 installation with Outlook 2016 and I get the "Outlook is not installed on this machine" error message.

I to am at a loss on what to do. 95% of my work is on the desktop...

That's part of the incompatibility.  If the system had earlier versions of Office configured with the plugin you can get it to work.  However, if you try to install Office 2016 on a new system that did not previously have the earlier Office versions, it will fail to install.

I will try uninstalling Office 2016, install Office 2007 and CRM 2013.

Then I will then upgrade to Office 2016 and let you know if that works.

    It works! Perfectly!

Also, Outlook 2016 did not lose its configuration. Even my archive settings are still there.

I'm glad you have the time to do that.  We don't.
