Hi

what comes first

  1. prospect then lead
  2. lead then prospect

if option 1 is correct, then why can't i create a sales quotation from the Lead

and if option 2 is correct then why can't i create a prospect from the lead

appreciate if you can clarify how the sales and marketing out of the box works

thanks

As per AX process, prospect is mandatory to create Lead.

You can create Sales Quotation using Prospect of customer. You have option to choose account type(prspect/customer) on quotation itself.

if we talk about end to end flow, its as following

Lead >> Opportunity >> Quotation >> Sales Order

    it comes before the Lead.

But you can also skip that, and you can create Propsect at time of lead creation. While you will create Lead, you will see a filed Name.

In that Name Lookup you will find all parties of system. If you enter some new keyword, it will be saved as new prospect in yoru suystem, which later on you can convert to customer or vendor.

They are two different types of data. A Prospect is the customer or vendor that you are prospecting to do business with. A Lead is the precursor for a specific business opportunity. You qualify a lead and get an opportunity.

    So it is:

    Prospect > Customer

Lead > Opportunity > Quotation > Sales order

Lead, Opportunity and Quotes can be related to a prospect or customer. A sales order can only be related to a customer.
