hello,

i searched some info on setting permission sets, user group and users.
if I understand this correctly, we need to create permission sets, then assign to user group/role, then assign to users
maybe i am overthinking this but doesn't a user can change their role in my settings?
if their go change their role, would their permission be change as well?

thanks for helping me understand this process

In permission sets , you can change permissions in effective permissions,  normally in practical life you don't change roles , for example if you are a business manager then your permissions will be different then an accountant.

If you change your role then your previous role permissions will be rewoked and you will be assigned new permissions according to the new role. Support team will give the new permissions set(s) to the new role as you will have to request them for it. Thanks

There is a difference between a role and permissions. There is really no connection between the two. If a user changes their role, this would not change their permissions.

Essentially, the role is what the user sees on the screen, how the pages are customized, etc.. Permissions is what they have access to. You can use permissions to restrict a user changing their role or permissions.

Valentin is right. This is different from systems such as SAP. Permission Set is different from Profiles (Roles).
    Permission Set: User's permissions.
A user's permission set requires a user with permission to modify it in the User Card.

Profiles (Roles): Mainly determines the user interface

Profiles (Roles) can be changed in My Settings.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
