bundle components in different sales packing slips

Hello,

I need to clarify a functional point of posting bundle components in different delivery notes. IN my tests when I tried to post delivery note with only some of the bundle components from sales order lines I got an error that some bundle components were deleted and you need to delete the others first and that's fine with my business process but I need to be sure. Does that mean it's inpossible to post delivery note for the partial bundle components? For example if bundle consists of several items I post one delivery note for one itemid, then post another one for other itemid. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi dark-knight,

I think the main idea of a bundle is to deliver all at once. So, potentially partially delivery might not be supported, but I haven't tested this myself. Can you provide the exact error message? Then I can check the intended logic from Dynamics 365.

    Hello,

I did a test and it looks that OOB you can do partial delivery, even for bumble items.
Could you please check some points:
    • Delivery quantity: We need to update the quantity from "update quantity". Are you following this step?

    • Prevent paretial delivery: Do you have this flag activated on your sales order lines (tied your chield items)?
As André mentioned, it would be helpful if you could share the exact error message.

    Thank you,
    Giorgio

    Hi,
When you use a Product bundle in D365 F&O:
The parent item is a bundle item. The system automatically explodes it into:
    -> Parent line (non-stocked)
    -> Component lines (stocked items)
The components are system-controlled, they are logically treated as one commercial unit
So when you try to post packing slip (delivery note) for only some components, the system throws an error like:
“Some bundle components were deleted and you must delete the others first.”
    This happens because:
Bundle components must remain consistent as a group
You cannot change, delete, or deliver only part of the exploded structure.

    hello guys,

Thank you for your answers. I will share the exact error message tomorrow morning. BUt as already mentioned by you in this link

I found that packing slip must include all product bundles and in my test I always got an error so I didn't dig deeper anymore. But Giorgio says it's possible in his test which is quite confusing or @Giorgio Bonacorsi you mean this case described in the link below. I yes this is not my case.

A partial amount can be shipped and invoiced only if the quantity is reduced for all components of the bundle. For example, a quantity of 5 of the Laptop bundle item is entered on a sales order. After the sales order is confirmed, the three component items are shown on the sales order, and the quantity of each is 5. By default, the quantity of each component is set to 5 during shipping and invoicing. However, you can adjust the quantity to 3 for all three component items. In this case, three full product bundles will be shipped and invoiced. The remaining two product bundle items (a quantity of 2 of each of the three component items) can be shipped and invoiced later.

@Giorgio Bonacorsi answering to your questions

    1) yes. I do so
    2) will give info tomorrow about this flag
    3) there is enough on-hand quantity for all bundle components
    4) yes, I deliver full bundle composition

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Yes, that's the case where the partial delivery is allowed.
A bundle is a pack where, by default, we deliver a collection of items/services together to the customer.

For example, with our laptop bundle, we send:
    - one laptop
    - one charger
    - one warranty

In D365FO, the laptop (the parent item) will therefore have 3 child items (laptop, charger, and warranty) that together compose the bundle product. That's why we need to use the BOM (Bill of Materials) to define this structure on the parent item.

You can ship a partial quantity of the bundle, but if you ship, for example, 2 units of the bundle, you must also ship the corresponding child items for those 2 units to keep the quantities consistent with the BOM definition.

I did a test and it's work in this way. Try to see and let's me know.

    Giorgio,

    2) This flag isn't selected. So I try to delete the whole element of the bundle, so the case discussed with you above isn't my case but many thanks to put my attention to this case.

     ,
Below screenshot is the exact error message I get
I suppose we clarified everything and you helped a lot. Many thanks. Also I'm sure this discussion will be a big help for anyone who will read it when encounter the same functionality in FO.
