Search lookup records by related field value

Hi Everyone,

Is there is any way to retrieve record(s) in Lookup by its related entity field value in the lookup search view?

Example Scenario: I Want the list of case records by its customer (Contact) number.

Note: I'm using the default Customer --> Case relationship and in my contact form I have N number of Cases associated.

    Hello,

    As far as I remember it's not possible to use the data from the related entities directly so you will have to bring that field to the level of the case. I see 2 possible ways:

    1. Create a calculated field that takes the value from your parent record - learn.microsoft.com/.../define-calculated-fields

    2. Create a simple field in the case entity that will mirror the data from the parent entity and implement "sync" of that field with the parent (so it would be required to create an automation that will do it (plugin/workflow/powerautomate - what's more comfortable for you).

    Use this newly created field in the search.
