IDGenerator from Planet Technologies

Hi.

One of our clients uses IDGenerator from Planet Technologies with Dynamics 2016 on-prem. Now it plans to upgrade to a higher Dynamics on-prem version and the question is, if the IDGenerator works with the new Dynamics version. Unfortunatly the site PlanetXRM is not available any more. Does anybody has experience with IDGenerator with an on-prem versions higher as 2016?

Thanks for help.

Maris

    Hi

You could install trial version of the latest on-prem release on a separate VM and backup and import the 2016 Org and see if the IDGenerator functionality works as expected.

This is a good idea but if the PlanetXRM.com is down, how can I get the trial? Do you know any other sites for it? Thanks.

    Hi

Sorry I meant you can download and install the trial of latest version of Dynamics on a separate VM, and then backup and import the current org db and see if the IDGenerator features continue to work and this will also give you the chance to test and see if all of your CRM functionalities still work in the latest version.

Please note: I have not used IDGenerator, and my answer was based on the assumption that your current instance has the IDGenerators solution(s) imported and working and you wanted to check if it will continue to work in the latest version.

If the ID generator is a separate product that connects to Dynamics CRM, it should be using API and it should still work as Microsoft has not introduced any major breaking changes to the Dynamics 365 API/Web Services.

    Hope this helps
