How to set pricing and duration of free use for free trial of a Dynamics Business Central offer on App Source?

I would like to publish a Dynamics Business Central offer on App Source as a free trial. I was able to get the offer published on App Source through Microsoft Partner Center, however I never had the option to set pricing and duration of free use.

It appeared that instead of being a free trial my app was freely downloadable on App Source, without any mention of conditions. In an article of 2021, there was a mention of a Solution Pricing field under the Properties tab. However this option seems to have disappeared.

Does anyone have experience with setting this up?

I have the same question (0)

In a Free trial, you need to add some restrictions, such as a 30-day free trial, users can't use it if exceed it, or user can't use the basic functions without activation, which needs to be taken into account when customizing.
Also, I remember one item is Contact Me, if you don't want all customers to download, you can set this.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Hi Kim, thank you for your answer. I've posted it here, because I didn't find a forum dedicated to Dynamics on App Source, or even App Source in general. Feel free to direct me towards a more dedicated community platform for these questions.

Hello Zhu, thank you for your answer!

We've been using the 'Contact me' option on other apps in the past, but are exploring specifically the free trial now.

The problem is: in the Partner Center where we set up the offers, we can't seem to find the option to set up the restrictions.

Are we overlooking something, or is this something we need to set up in the app file itself perhaps?

Hi, as far as I know, Microsoft does not provide these restrictions, which are left to Partner.

I think you can download some of the Free Trial programs that are already publicly available on AppSource and refer to what is done in them.

Usually it's an activation code, or a limit on the number of simultaneous users.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi Zhu,

Thank you for clarifying it's the Partner's reponsibility to implement the restrictions.

Now it makes sense why I couldn't find these.

Good suggestion to download another App to see how others have done it.

Thanks & have a nice day,

    Alec

Just to add to the other answers.

To limit the use of your trail app. You basically have to implement some kind of license management in your AL code that allows you to check if the customer have a valid license or not.

This can f.ex. be a license code you distribute to the customer or it can be a web service call to your "license service" to check if this is a valid customer or not.

There are some good info here:

There is also a 3.party solution avalible that you can read more about here:
