Send Proforma Invoice from Sales Order by email as pdf attachment

Dear colleagues,

Is it possible to add function of Send By Email for Proforma Invoice in Sales Order?

When in a Sales Order, there is a button in Home tab to email a confirmation as pdf. The email opens in Outlook, with attachment

I would like the same for Proforma Invoice (in Actions tab). Currently I can print Profoma Invoice and save as pdf and then open a new and attach an email. But it would be much more convenient to have this Send by email option.

I know that it is possible to make a Sale Quote, and Send by email. But our Sales people don't always do that first :-)

Hi Lovisa LH ,

Please try to attach the report ID into the Document Layout option with the particular customer, and check if it helps you.

Do you want this to be an automatic function or something you trigger manually?

If you want it to trigger automatically you probably need some code to execute it.

In this case, I think Roberto's blog does not help me. It seems not to be quite the same situation as I'm in, or at least his advice is not relevant for 2018, as far as I can see

Hi Lovisa LH !

The only really good option i can see is to create some customized code to add the desired action to your page.

The code needed does not have to be very complicated so if you have an in house NAV developer ior a partner they should be able to do this for you.

You can not configure the system to do what you want in a good way, so coding is your best option.

Let us know if some sample code is needed.

Thank you for the reply, we do have a developer partner and I can make this request to them.

And knowing that it is not something which can easily be configured saves me a lot of time in searching; appreciated!

Dear Zhu,

Thank you for sending these articles. I will keep the links and if I learn more about NAV, maybe I will look into it myself. Otherwise I will ask our developer partner. Or, just encourage our sales staff to use the sales quote page which is set up to send the quote as pdf by email.
