Hi people,Recently i red this post https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/b/alex-meyer-s-microsoft-dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-blog/posts/how-to-grant-access-to-navigation-modules-in-d365fo from the great ALEX MEYER.
In this post Alex Meyer explained different step of items selections to reach some module screens, he showed us that for accessing some Navigation Module we need some combination of specific items.
Actually, i'm studying security in D365 and i didnt understand why some items selection could grant ACCESS to Navigation Module and other not.
I wanna be able to access any Navigation Module and the screen that i want but how it works ? What is the logical process behind ?
Could someone help on this question.
Regards.
Hi Awaxx,
Alex had answered this question in the 5th image of his post that you attached here.
Modules on D365FO are accessed via menu items(Display, Output, Action).
The modules themselves are represented by menus. These menu items can be directly on a form, a menu.
In simple terms Menu items on a Menu gives direct access to Navigation module.
Here is an example.
When you create a security role and assign the display menu item VendTableListPage, automatically you have access to the Account Payables modules.
I hope this helps.
Hi Komi Siabi
Thanks for your reply.
I red this part too.
But in fact if you tried to create a security role in UAT (like Alex did) and assign the display menu item VendTableListPage. Then you affect this role to a user you will see that you have not access to the module Account Payable.
And this is what i wanna understand.
Hi Mack,
In my opinion, this is an inconsistent behavior of the application. I have plans to dive into the details on short notice.
Hi Andre Arnaud de Calavon
I will be glad to read your investigation. I m so disappointed to not understand that behavior.
Hello Make,
Aside your custom role, did you assign the employee role to the user ?
I did add it and I can view the account Payable module.
Please try and revert.
Just like Andre said, this needs to be investigated though.
Could explain each step of your process for doing the same ?
Thanksfully
I created a role called TestRole <Privilege < Display menu < VendTableListPage
I assigned the role TestRole and Employee to the user and I can view the Account Payable module.
Hi
I did the same but dont have this view
You dont create a duty too ?
No, I did not create a duty,
I forgot to mention.
After adding the VendTableListPage display menu item, add all controls and datasources references.
I did it but still nothing on my user.
But then i remove controls and datasource i added on your example and i add the display item named 'Vendorexceptiongroup' and look.
Here i get access to account payable But still not understand how it works.
