    Hello,

in the process flow from lead to opportunity the lead will be marked as qualified and by that is in disabled state as soon as the user qualifies the lead to an opportunity. In the UI the Lead form will switch to display the Opportunity created and the user will seamlessly continue working on that now.

I hope this process fullfils your requirements.

(I am not quite sure what you refer to as the Mandatory field and to "abort the Lead record".)
