Customer Assets Hierarchy (serial numbers)

Hallo all!

I need your advice in setting up the customer assets hierarchy.

I have a customer that installs alarm systems.

Usually hierarchy of the system looks like this:

H1 alarm system name

Primark Alarm System

H2 list of products the above system is composed of

A Zebra TC 52 terminal

B Single Slot Charge

C User licence Frontman

D Mobile licence Frontman

H3 list of specific products with serial numbers (not all products have serial numbers, only some)

A1 Zebra TC terminal AB1234567890

A2 Zebra TC terminal AB0987654321

I assume

H1 = customer asset
H2 = product
H3 = ?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards, Eva

    Hi Eva, ALL of the above are customer asset, and can optionally be based on a product. The hierarchy is defined by specifying a parent asset. One way to reflect the above:

    1. Create all your products in Dynamics (e.g. Zebra TC 52 terminal). Don't forget to publish them, otherwise you want be able to use them.
    2. Create an asset Primark Alarm System (with or without product).
    3. Create an asset A1 Zebra TC terminal AB1234567890 with Product=Zebra TC 52 terminal). For this asset, choose the Primark Alarm System from step 2 as the parent.
    4. You could create additional hierarchy levels by adding another component and specifying the asset from step 3 as parent. This way you can build an n-level hierarchy.

    In the asset list you will then see a hierarchy symbol next to your Primark Alarm System, if you click it you will see a graphical representation of the asset hierarchy. A work order can then be linked to every desired level.
