Parent Dimensions - block for posting

We have used a number of dimensions with Parent Values.

For example we have a

Start Group Value 10005

End Group Value 10199

And in between a number of child dimension values that we want to post to in the General Ledger

10010, 10015 and 10020.

How can I limit posting to the child values 10010, 10015 or 10020 and prevent posting to 10005 and 10199.

I do not believe that the dimension combinations page is a good way to do this as we don't want to post to 10005 or 10199 under any circumstances, and we have a lot of dimensions, both dimension values and different dimension types and therefore filling out the dimension combinations page would really take a long time.

Is there a way to block dimensions for posting against in the same way that you can with a GL Account?

Strange... The image that I have posted is from standard page. It is already included. If its not available you can add it yourself. Using Design.

Let me know if you still have issue.

Thanks Bilal. I can see this in a config package on table 349 but not on the user interface.

    Hi,

You can use Blocked field on Dimension Value page to block certain dimensions. You need to do it manually for all Dimensions values of type other than Posting. If you have a lot of Dimension Values then you can use Config Package to update Blocked for all Dimension Values of Type other than Posting.

Note: Blocking Parent does not affect children. You can still use children dimension values even if parent dimension value is blocked.

Hopefully this answers your Query. If it helps you please mark this as verified.
