How can batch be configured for an item in Dynamics 365? and how are serial numbers auto generated for any purchased quantity of an item? Your guidance would be of great value.

Hi Burhan Awan ,

Are you using AX or D365 F&O?

Do you mean the tracking dimension of the item for batch number and serial number? You need to active them in Tracking dimension groups first.

Also, define the number groups and attach them to the item. In the number group select the "On Physical update" so that the serial number is created when the inventory is physically updated. Look into the Activation tab as well.

Route: Inventory Management -> Setup -> Dimensions -> Number Groups.
