database table information. Database capacity issues

I'm a new system admin for my companies Dynamics 365 online instance. We have been using Dynamics since August 2020 and we are already over capacity for our database. I have been searching for information on what information is being stored by each of the tables in the capacity chart.

I need to lower our capacity but i don't want to bulk delete valuable data. Can someone give me a link/info on what these tables contain?

I don't know the internals but based on my experience handling databases, data management in D365 looking a bit worrisome. For one of my program which is built using D365, I had only 5 custom entities and each entity has approx  1500 records ( 6 fields per entity). Db size is 4 GB and now per GB cost is also increased to $ 40 by Microsoft.

any idea on why this much space is used specially when their is no attachment or files being used in DB store

    Hi there,

I agree with approach suggested by ddevin1 and Adrian Begovich, would like just to emphasize that the link regarding 10 ways to free storage will be really helpful for you not only to free current unwanted data but also to create routines that will prevent the org to have unwanted data in the future like bulk delete and uncheck the system job for workflows and avoid space being consumed.

Here’s an update on ways to free up storage for data found in the different tables, or to add additional capacity:    docs.microsoft.com/.../free-storage-space

You may want to consider use of an attachment extractor that stores attachments in alternate storage locations such as Azure or SharePoint:  Additional Database Storage Capacity
