Data Transfer Tool - DP.EXE running into an error while importing data to Dynamics AX 2012 R3

Hi,

I am running into an error when i tried to import data by following the above steps given in the url https://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/thedynamicsblog/archive/2014/05/13/ax2012-r3-how-to-import-contoso-data-using-test-data-transfer-tool-beta.aspx and landed into an error as shown in below.

A connection with the Server=<Computer Name> cannot be established. Please check the
Server is accessible

I am running Dynamics AX 2012 R3 in Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 R2. Both the AOS and SQL Server are running under the System Administrator account service.

Appreciate your valuable suggestion to resolve this issue and let me know for any details.

    Hi Balasubramanian,

    This tool requires to have the SQL Server client tools installed on the local computer, and on the database server that you are transferring data to.

    You can read this on technet.microsoft.com/.../dn296450.aspx.

    If you are trying to use the tool it used SQL Server bulk copy tool. So this program should be on the SQL server and on the machine where you are using the TDTT.

    This error looks similar to the one I got and then I figured out I forgot to install the client tools.

    Hi Andre,

    Thank you for your response.

    I have resolved this issue by specifying server name and instance name though my database server and client tools are on the local machine where the AOS is running

    but, it is domain controller.

    Thanks Subramani. I resolved the issue by adding sql server name with instance name.

    Balasubramanian Kumaran can you please elaborate yourself in more detail. I have specified the command and server but not working. Can you share the exact parameters of the command?

    Thanks its done now.

    I was not mentioning the name of database earlier but its fixed now.

    dp.exe import <path> MicrosoftDynamicsAX <server-name>
