I’ve downloaded a “fresh” copy of the install CD and it gives the same error. Any ideas or suggestions where to look?

    Hi,

Did you move the BP databases from one server to another?  If so, you need to go into SQL Server Management Studio, expand on the System database, expand Security, and expand on Users.  Delete the BusinessPortalUser.  Do the same thing on the application database.  Make sure you have admin rights on the machine.  Then try the install. Let me know how it goes.

This ended up being a permissions error of some kind, although why escapes me. I was setup as local admin on both the Web server and the Database server. Had full admin privileges to SQL. All this is in agreement with the BP documentation. As soon as I tried logging in as a domain admin, I was able to install seamlessly.

Will research more of the "Why" later. While puzzling over this one, other clients have lined up.
