SL 2011 - Import of customizations - System Message 10050

Posted on by 210

Hello,

If soemeone could please point me to either an official document or some methodology for importing customisations from SL 6.5 to SL 2011.

I've done a test with a SL 2011 demo application database and imported a customisation from our 6.5 production system. When I try to open the screen in the demo SL 2011 I get a system message 10050 error "The application specified size of record table xyz (701) does not match the database declared size (773)".

I understand that the issue is that the table's structure is now different in 2011 vs 6.5 (i.e. some fields' size is bigger in 2011 than 6.5). How do I resolve this without modifying the 2011 table back to 6.5 original structure?

What do I need to do to my exported SL 6.5 customizations before I import them to SL 2011 ?

Thanks for your help.

    Actually we are using VBA.

Barry, do you know if the data found in the system database..CustomVBA..PropData field is convertible to text and back to that same data format? It does not seem to be hex.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Just a further thought.

I had assumed this was VBA - but on reflection I don't think you said whether it was VBA or BSL.

If it should happen to be BSL, the answer is a bit different, but I won't ramble on about BSL unless you are actually using it !

Thank-you Barry for your answer. So I take it that this means that there is no automatic process for this (i.e. a tool that would check for these discrepencies and update accordingly). Please confirm.

From the Admin menu, go into Set Customize Level.

Set the level to be that of the customization (so that you can edit it.)

And check the "suppress event code" box. That prevents your code from running, so it won't crash on load.

When you fire up the screen, you may have to "OK" through a lot of errors, but the screen should eventualy load, and then allow you into Customize Mode, and the VBA Editor.

In the explorer window at the left, expand Modules, and you should see a module which is a "dh file" which specifies all the fields in the table.

Your problem is that that module is out of date.

Delete it, then import the updateed version (from a path something like db\dhfiles\app.)

    Hopefully that should do it.

Before starting, make sure you export the customization, and keep a copy of that .cst file, just in case it all turns to custard... :)
