Alternative login to CRM eg. FaceBook

Hi,

Assume there is a group of Facebook users which I intend to host a CRM for. These users are from different parts of the world. I can host a CRM in IFD mode with these users created manually in my AD and CRM.

However, I would like to allow these users to logon to this CRM via FaceBook authentication. If required, I can host a separate database to maintain the AD credentials.

Is it possible? And how?

You'd have to build some middleware that takes the Facebook login details and re-directs to CRM, but as I am typing this, I am wondering - why? Moreover, I haven't looked at the Facbook API but I'm pretty certain that what you're asking can't be done, you can create "Facebook Login" pages, but the details are never shown so I don't know how that would work either,

I know I have given you a lot of no, and no real answers, but here are some links to get you started:

    Hi Hussman,

    Thanks for your reply.

FaceBook is just an example. The key objective is so that users do not need to remember another password when we introduce CRM to them.

Its all part of achieving a better user adoption, if you get what I mean. :)

May be you need to look into the Impersonation for this type of setup.msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg328497.aspx

    Thanks,

    Mohammad

    Mohammad,

I've been looking into the Impersonation as well but would it be exactly like it sounds. I could sign is as a user and then have the ability to see what they see based on perms, etc?

If so, can you help with Setting the CallerId property of the organization Web service proxy? I'm not quite sure how to do this.

    Thanks!

You might need to raise an advisory request with us for the same. I have found this information after doing some offline research and  shared here as suggestion.  Our Advisory service team will be get on call with you and help you here and will also share other suggestions on the possibility of this type of setup

    Thanks,

    Mohammad
