Last Tax Code Update for the Round 1 2013 Payroll Tax Update

Posted on by 180

Hi,

We processed our 2012 year end for payroll and installed the 2013 Payroll Tax Update. The Last Tax Update shows: 1/1/2013, but the Last Tax Code Update shows: 1/20/2012. Is the tax code update this way because there was no tax code change due to the unresolved "fiscal cliff"? Should I be concerned that it shows 1/20/2012?

Thanks,

Cilicia

Douglas Karel- Thanks for mentioning the upgrade to GP2013. We are upgrading in the next couple of months. Our timeline didn't allow us to upgrade sooner, but it is on our schedule.

Thanks for the clarification - good to see our dates match.

There are two places for dates.

The last Tax Code update is found by going to Tools, Setup, System Payroll Tax.

    Last Tax Update 1/1/2013

Last Tax Code Update 01/20/2012        (Janurary 20th of 2012 is the last time the tax (program) code changed

The other place to check the dates is for the Payroll Year End update

Tools, Setup, Payroll, Payroll will show

    Last Year-End Update 11/12/2012

Did anyone get this clarified as to what the correct date should be?  We are on GP 2010 and have applied all updates per the documentation and followed the logical path for upgrades and have the 'Last Tax Code Update' listed as 01/20/2012

Re: Last Tax Code Update for the Round 1 2013 Payroll Tax Update

I recently ran into a situation where even after applying the 2012 year-end tax code update and the 2013 tax table update, the dates on the screens for payroll do not change. Those dates are kept in the dex.ini file and there are there are situations, like terminal server and/or the PSTL is loaded, where those dates just do not get updated. Go to Tools->Setup->System->Payroll Tax and pull up FICAS, see it it show 4.2 or 6.2. If it says 6.2 then you do have the 01/01/13 tax table update. In our situation, if you look at the DEX.INI on the server, the dates are correct, it was jut all the workstations where it is wrong. Logging in to GP should show 11.00.2160 for the 2012 year-end tax code update.

Hi All: I agree with Cillicia above... we are running V2010... and have kept up with the updates all year long. Now we have put in the year end update, and out tax update (date) says 11/30/12 and our last tax code update still says 1/20/12.... NOT 11/20/12... just as the update chart shows. Should I be looking for another tax code update? If so, please send the link. Thanks, Jim R

Clicia - I noticed in the thread that you mentioned you are on Vers 10.   I am going to put on my partners hat here and mention that the 2012 Year End update and the intital round of 2013 tax updates are the last updates for Version 10.   Microsoft has also made mention that they will not have a hot fix for Version 10 to correct the IRS form 941 changes for Calandar quarter 1 of 2013.    It will be necessary for you to upgrade to GP2010 or GP2013 to have those fixes and especially Year End updates for 2013.

This question may be answered, I want to make sure we have it right.

Tools, Setup, System, Payroll Tax will show

    Last Tax Update 1/1/2013

    Last Tax Code Update 01/20/2012

Tools, Setup, Payroll, Payroll will show

    Last Year-End Update 11/12/2012

Is this what everyone else has?
