Power Automation - is it possible to Collect Data in Flow then Post to BC?

Hi

Is it possible to create Flow (Power Automation) that start from BC then collect some data and write back to BC.

Usage scenario :

1) Customer Service create SO for Items

2) Then customer service trigger the flow

3) Flow provide info to Engineer or Production and ask them to enter labor time they need for that SO

4) Flow brings back time and create new Sales Order Line in BC (as Resource or G/L) and enter the time to update the SO

If this is possible what is the flow step that can collect data? I could not figure this step out and heard it is not possible to collect data in the middle of flow.

Mr Zhu , as always thank you for your feedback. My goal is to make it simple and outside of BC.

I have a success with one flow using Send Email with Option. But that is not flexible enough. No I am investigating adaptive card to see if I can make it more flexible.

Hi, This sounds a bit complicated, you need to return the user's behavior in the email to the BC.

I suggest it is better to make a simple Page in BC and include a link to this Page in the sent email, the user clicks the link, opens the Page, enters the quantity, etc. Since the user has permission to open the BC, I think this might be better to handle.

Hope this can give you some hints.

    Thanks

    ZHU

    Thanks Mr Bruvik

Let me I try that. I thought to send an email with condition and collect the result. I had success with that but when I use the results to Create Record I get an error message. But strange enough errors has nothing to do with email and has something to do with Get Record.

I start from Selected Record (which link flor to Power Automate in BC)

Then go to Get Record which I get the data from Sales Order

    Then Email

Then Create Record but in create record I use Sales Order Line but I get an error here which point out to "The field Account Id of table Sales Invoice Line Aggregate contains a value " I am sure I did not use Sales Invoice Line here at all and do not know why this error point to Sales Invoice Line.

Then you should have one flow that sends the e-mail  and another flow that triggers when there is a reply to that e-mail.

I do not think you can do it all in one flow.

If the e-mail sender is a shared mailbox you can have Power Automate monitor that mailbox for new e-mails - read the subject and the content and act on that. You could have the sales order no. as part of the subject so it is easy to catch that in the flow.

    Correct

They have an access but they prefer to not go there and just simply answer an email or team or etc.

My goal is to send them email or even team message and they just enter the data and then Flow creates lines in SO based on their answers.

So what you really want is to trigger the flow from a sales order in BC? And you do not want production or engineer to have access to the Sales order?

    Thanks NorthW

My challenge is that document work when we manually trigger the flow from flow and not from BC . So far I tried Email with Options which I failed to get the result and also someone said use Adaptive Card which is really complex and even I do not know how it works.

Hence, I am not sure even this is possible

Maybe this can give you some hint about manual input to your workflow?

    learn.microsoft.com/.../

The rest of the things your are asking for should be possible to achieve by using the BC API's.

Could also look into using a combination of Power Automate and Power Apps for better user interface. But even with out Power Apps it should be doable.
