Cannot edit a record in Inventory transactions (InventTrans). An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record

AX 2012 R2

When I start the following process > Inventory and Warehouse > Periodic > Close and Adjust > Recalculation

It never finishes and gets block so to speak with the following infolog message

"Cannot edit a record in Inventory transactions (InventTrans). An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record"

This looks to be a major worry, looks to be data integrity is not there.

Any help on how to fix and importantly why I would be seeing this message.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sony Boy,

Your question and situation is different. Can you create a new question on the forum and provide some more background information on what you was doing exactly?

    Hi guys,

    Good day!

I just want to know if the provided answer is applicable in all cases of the same issue? because I have a problem also with the same issue appeared however my case is different from the Recalculation. I wanted to post the consumption and do the issuance of the items but the error appeared stated that: "Cannot edit a record in inventory journal table (InventJournalTable). An update conflict occured due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record."

I already tried to check the said table but I don't know if what specific lines where i'm gonna check. Please help me with this. Thank you so much

The second step worked for me. Thanks a ton.

you can find it in LCS.

    This solved my problem:

    2. The error message that you receive: “Cannot edit a record in Inventory transactions (InventTrans). An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record” might be caused by Marking when you have a receipt transaction marked to multiple issue transactions. Please check if you have Marking on any of the concerned items. Then remove the marking on this item and re-run the Recalculation.

Problem is to find the exact transaction. I found 2 orderlines marked to the same produktion order, and only partley marked. Clearing the mark and remark solved my problem.

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad it is solved. Fudging in inventory transactions is very tricky when you don't have the expertise of the storage logic and datamodel. I have seen many wrong customizations, some bugs and wrong correction on this area. I think the company you are dealing with is wise to find the knowledge needed outside their company. That's worth a "thumb-up".

    Hi Guy’s

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your input – much appreciated.

We are running with just one AOS, we have no modifications (apart from Reporting) – we went with a total Vanilla approach. We are 8 months in from go-live and will be looking at development work some time later. The task is run manually.

The problem actually fixed itself when we moved our support to a new company as I’m now more advanced in AX I believe that they were “fudging” the table to fix an issue we had at the time with Catch Weights.

FYI – Dynamics AX has a small footprint in New Zealand compared to the rest of the world and it seems we have a lack the broad skillset; the company I am dealing with at the moment is recruiting offshore skills to try and fill that gap.

I suggest you need to check if you have any customization related inventory management.

    try to analyse the customization.

it seems the customization is not working properly

Please verify and update with your finidngs

RE: Cannot edit a record in Inventory transactions (InventTrans). An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record

Hi Every body, I got exactly the same error in AX 2012 R2 CU7.

Cannot edit a record in Inventory transactions (InventTrans).

An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record.

    I found this

Solution 742864 Error when recalculate stock (update conflict)

    AX VERSION

    Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

    PROBLEM

When running Inventory recalcuation, the following error message is being displayed:“Cannot edit a record in Stock transactions (InventTrans). An update conflict occurred due to another user process deleting the record or changing one or more fields in the record.”

    MITIGATION

    1. This error might be caused by locking. On the InventTrans table, the Property “OCCEnabled” is currently set to “Yes”. Temporarily set this property = “No” and run the Recalculation when there is minimal activity on the system. Preferably, get all users to logoff and then re-run the Recalculation. By setting this property = “No”, locking will still occur but the system will prevent other users from updating the record until you have released your lock. After running the Recalculation and if the error no longer occurs, you can reset this parameter to its original value.

    3. Restart the AOS to clear any caching issues that may be causing this error.

    4. Cancel the previous Recalculation and then run again together.
