Hi experts,
I need to export multiple models and projects(axpp files) in one go like using a command in cmd. Can you please suggest if possible?Plus, can we change the name of customized model also containing elements in it?
Your suggestions would highly be appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Arif Hussain
Can you tell us more about what you're trying to achieve? Why do you want to export a bunch of projects, rather then the model?
What exactly do you mean by "changing the name of customized model also containing elements in it"?
Thank you Martin for your response.
So, actually I have many customizations in different projects and different models in development environment on server. I need to take the backup of all those customizations in my personal computer. What I did is basically export the project from Visual Studio and it makes an axpp file and then I made a copy of that in my personal computer. This is for the projects. But I have multiple projects and I need to export all of them. So, can you please tell me how to export all of those customized projects in one go?
I am exporting project because I need to save the project as well in my personal computer.
Ok, for the next question is that. If mistakenly, I created a model with a name that I need to change in future and I have added elements in it too so now if we have to change the name of that model how can we do that?
Regards,
It's very strange that you need to do such a thing, because all the information should already be in source control. If you aren't using source control, you're asking for troubles, such as the loss of all your work. I suggest you fix it and put the change to source control. You can use a shelveset or a custom branch if you don't want to intrfere with others.
If you insist on ignoring source control, I would export models and then copy projects. I don't see a benefit in using .axpp files in this case.
Changing the name of a model is possible, but it doesn't belong to this thread ("How to export multiple projects(axpp files), models in one go?"). In short, a model is basically just a folder with a descriptor file, therefore changing it isn't a huge deal.
Hi Martin Dráb,
I went through different blogs and sites connecting Visual Studio (VS) to source control but I am getting more confused in it. Can you please tell me or send me any link which can explain how to use a source control and how to setup it with VS and Azure. Also, what are the requirements for that such as azure account or subscription?
Please consider me as a beginner in using this source control.
Thank you.
