Posting date for Automatic Cost postings

Hi all,

I have a customers set to do automatic cost postings. The also manage posting date access per user.

In some cases the posting date not allowed error comes up because it wants to adjust cost in a period that is now NOT ALLOWED for the user.

Can anyone advise if there is a date settings I can change for the Auto Adjustment to not post back into a previous period?

Regards
Debbie

Yes, it usually means the General Ledger Setup Page Allow Posting From is earlier than the User Setup Allow Posting From field. This is why I typically recommend all my clients to ensure every single month the Allow Posting From field in the General Ledger Setup Page is updated to the current month.

How it works is that the adjustment will look at the original document posting date and compare it with the General Ledger Setup Allow Posting From field, and make the adjustment on the latest date. i.e. the original document posting date that needs adjusting is December 1, 2023. The General Ledger Setup Allow Posting From is January 1, 2024. In this case the system will try to make the adjustment January 1, 2024. But what if in the User Setup Page a user's Allow Posting From is February 1, 2024? They will get the error message you encountered. To fix, General Ledger Setup Allow Posting From must equal Allow Posting From in the User Setup
