What is Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Rtc.dll

The dll file Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Rtc.dll is in the GP AddIns folder and I have a consultant asking what it does. I have been unable to find the answer online. Can anyone help?

Quick background: apparently a client was getting some kind of error and it was suggested by another developer that the file be renamed. Doing so alleviated the error but our consultant is wondering what the file does in order to understand the repercussions of renaming it.

Thank you!

    Chad,

I believe it is a connection to Microsoft Office Communicator, a new feature in GP2010.

Microsoft Dynamics GP can integrate with some of the Unified Communications capabilities provided by Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 or later. Presence information of your customers, sales people, vendors, and employees can be displayed from within Microsoft Dynamics GP. You also can select actions from Communicator to perform tasks within Microsoft Dynamics GP such as creating a purchase order or opening the Customer Maintenance window.

    Hope that helps.

    Claude
