How to stop check links?

We started running check links on the sales transactions group after hours [all users were signed out of GP] but it continued to run for more than 12 hours.  Is there a graceful way to stop the processing?  What are the ramifications of killing off the process from the backend?  I was not able to find information about this situation in the adminstrators guide ... did I miss it?

Thank you in advance for any insight/suggestions.

It was many years and several versions ago. On GP 5.5 running on Pervasive SQL. I don't remember specifically what errors we had but that I ended up just restoring the database and having to have a bunch of transactions re-entered.

But you're now going on around 16 hours?

Be sure to keep checking the Activity file and make sure nobody's snuck in.

    David:

What type of data corruption did you see?  How did you identify that there was data corruption due to the check links.

Do you have any idea what occurs if the process is killed at the database level?  will the report write out for the portion that has been processed?  does it try to rollback what has already happened?  I do not see any open transactions

You could end up with corrupted data that will take A LOT LONGER to fix than just letting it finish. Sales Trx checklinks can take a long time to run if you have a lot of transactions.

I did that once a long time ago and had to do a restore.

If you can run it from the server it'll go faster, or at least run it from the fastest computer with the fastest connection you can.
