I am trying to figure out what the "Select inventory dimensions to apply to journal lines" setup does in Inventory and warehouse management parameters.
For example, what should I expect if 'Movement = Yes' on Batch number?
The help text does not help me much: "Select this check box to display the selected dimensions when you post inventory movements with the related journal."
I have tried to post the related journal with and without enabling the inventory dimension in the mentioned setup, but could not see any difference (maybe I am not looking the correct place).
You should expect the batch dimension to be visible, unless you have marked "Save setup" in display dimensions. That takes precedence over this configuration.
It's only used to control the visibility of inventory dimensions in various areas of the application. For example, I have deactivated the 'Location' dimension for movements. As a result, it is no longer visible by default when working with the journal, and I now have to manually make the dimension visible.
You might have to close the form entirely for it to take effect.
