Workflow 2.0 Steps and Hierarchy

I need to setup a workflow for PO Requisitions that doesn't have any conditions but must get approvals by managers as it goes up the hierarchy. I have setup the users in AD with the correct managers but I'm not sure how to setup the steps to make it move from manager to manager, specifically if one user has fewer levels to the top than another. Another requirement is that a manager shouldn't see the requisition until it has been approved by the manager below. Here's and example of the hierarchy:

Bob - CFO

Sara - Director

Tom - Manager

Bill - Staff

Sam - Staff

Jim - Director

Joe - Staff

Lori - Staff

When Bill submits a requisition Tom must approve then Sara must approve and then Bob must approve. When Joe submits a requisition Jim must approve then Bob must approve. When Sara submits a requisition then Bob must approve.

Any suggestions?

You could set up each persons approval as a step and then order them by who it needs to go to.

It's been a while since I'd just explored the workflow...This is just to give you an idea...

On workflow maintenance screen...First you need to create a New workflow and then a New Step....On the Workflow Step, you will see Assignment option...Click the lookup on Assign To and then choose Selection Type Hierarchy and then "Start From" as Workflow Originator(Or Requested By) and then I believe "Number of Levels" to 99(the maximum it allows)...Finally the Completion Policy as "All must approve". I hope this will address your concerns....Again.. I havent tested this nor using it...But it looks to me it might work for u...You may try and let us know.
