Hide group from form navigation?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello, a general question: When I want to hide a group (such as Marketing) from a form navigation, is there a setting to hide the group? I remember reading from an older version of CRM that I need to delete all of the items in the group to prevent Marketing from displaying, but I wanted to confirm.

Thanks you.

So, if you want to hide them from a form, you cannot use the sitemap editor, as this is only for the global menu. If you want to get rid of Marketing in the navigation on a form, you need to delete / remove al sub items beneath marketing. There's no way to delete te group or to hide it.

    Hi Dave,

I agree with Prashant, you can update the customization.xml upon export of your solution but that will be prone to errors.

I also suggest using the XRMToolbox, which basically provides a UI for the sitemap customization that you will do, instead of updating a long XML file (customization.xml)

    That's the only supported answer.

You can also modify the customization.xml but that would be difficult for you to do

Thank you for your responses. The reason I am asking is I am working through a training course and one of the questions is I need to find a solution to preventing "Marketing" from displaying in the Account form navigation.

The only choices I have: a) Hide the group, b) delete the group, or c) delete all items in the Marketing group.

We have not learned about XRMToolbox or other tools. Any thoughts?

    Hi Dave,

Some items are common through out the groups like Account and contacts, so even if you remove roles from all marketing related things, Marketing will still be visible.

Best option is to download xrmtoolbox (www.xrmtoolbox.com/download.html ) and use the sitemapeditor within it like this:

You can use the sitemap editor in the XrmToolbox (http://www.xrmtoolbox.com/)

There you can disable or delete a group quite easily.
