Hi all,
Is there any documentation that details the methodology behind the Inventory Value Report Storage (which tables are used, how is asset value calculated etc) ? Was hoping to be able to re-create this in Power BI for all entities and be able to slice data by certain dimensions.
Thanks
Hi Rigosakh,
Please consider to use the data entity InventInventoryValueReportStorageEntity. For details, please refer to following document-

Hi Junaid
This entity is not visible for me in Power BI as it is not made Public due to issues with OData
Hi rigosakh
Before you build your own Power BI based on all transactions exported from Inventory value report storage. I would suggest explore some of the existing options. In case these are not solving your problem building your own may be the solution. One key thing I have learned is that loading all InventTrans+InventSettlements into Power BI may work great for some time but not for long
The Inventory value report storage is based on the same logic as the Inventory value report. The Inventory value report is based on a set of very complex views and was implemented back in AX2009.
These views unify data from many tables into a generic Inventory format (InventTrans+InventSettlement+ProdRouteTrans+ProdIndirectTrans)
The views are used in many reports developed afterwards Inventory aging and also the CostObjectStatementCache which is used in the Cost management workspaces delivered OOB.
The Cost management embedded Power BI is based upon the CostObjectStatementCache
In embedded Power BI users can now change the visuals add visuals create new calculated fields if you need a new KPI

In order to secure performance and ensure that users can only see balance of Inventories (Onhand and WIP) we have introduced aggregation and pre-selection on which Inventory dimensions users can select.
I have provided link to different kind of documentation provided over time.

Thank you Anders, this is the kind of answer I was looking for.
I figured out that it won't be easy to replicate this in Power BI on my own so will explore the embedded solutions.
